Starting the Long Weekend Right

Happy Memorial Day weekend! The Empire State Building is sporting red white and blue to honor our troops this weekend!

Needless to say, I didn’t get to enjoy that happy hour I talked about yesterday. I left the office at 4pm though which is definitely earlier than most days so I was still able to enjoy some of the “summer Friday.” After leaving work I tried a “new to us” class at New York Health and Racquet club, MELT Method, with Melissa. We were definitely the youngest people in the class by at least 20 years but it did relieve a great deal of the tension I was holding in my feet and shoulders!

After the class, to my surprise, Bo made sure that my cute outfit wasn’t put to waste by making dinner reservations for us! We started the weekend with a fun, relaxed date at BLT Fish Shack in the Flatiron District. The service and food were both wonderful and exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed a few items from the raw bar and then split appetizers for our main course. There really is nothing better, in my humble opinion, than fresh seafood and a good beer on a Friday night.

This morning, I slept in until 9 and upon waking realized that my body is definitely feeling the last two days of workouts! Between Physique 57 DVD, swimming 3/4 of a mile, doing a TABATA running and lifting workout with my trainer yesterday, and rolling out my body at MELT today’s planned long run isn’t happening! Instead, I enjoyed a breakfast of champions with Bo in preparation for a 25 mile bike ride up the Hudson River Parkway.

I’m going to enjoy a beach trip with friends tomorrow as my rest day and then do a long run Monday morning.

Overall, I think this is going to be one perfect long weekend!
