Bienvenidos a Cozumel

We have safely arrived in Cozumel for four relaxing days with our best friends, Amy and Ryan.

002

Our agenda is simple: relax, explore, drink, eat, and repeat.

004

001  003 005 After a quick transport from the airport to our resort we were whisked into the lobby and greeted with a fresh hand towel, sweet alcohol filled cocktail, and a red carnation.  007 008

Other than our amazing friends who we haven’t seen in over a year, the best part of the trip thus far has been the room! This room is EXACTLY what we were hoping for and expected based on the room description!  009 010 011 012 013 014After catching up we spent an hour exploring the property, or lack thereof, and booked our spa appointments and scuba diving times for the next few days.

Overall, we’re still not accustomed to the all inclusive resort atmosphere but the weather made us forget that as we enjoyed a sunset swim.

010015This evening we’re off to Casa Mission for dinner, the most popular Mexican restaurant in Cozumel!

Question: Have you ever been to an all-inclusive resort? Love it or hate it? Why?

I’ve never been to an all inclusive resort, so I can’t really say how I feel about them one way or the other. However, your pictures look beautiful and eating, relaxing, exploring, drinking, and repeating with friends doesn’t sound too bad 🙂

Tasha: Thanks for the positive outlook! I think you’re right. Based on how reasonably priced everything for this trip has been so far and the fact that we don’t have to buy bottled water and things like that; I think we’ll just go off site for dinner each night to truly experience the island!

Beautiful views! I’ve been to Atlantis in the Bahamas and although our meals and activities weren’t included, there were so many different restaurants and activities on-site which made it very convenient… I don’t know how I’d feel committing to an all inclusive package that schedules everything for you since in my mind vaca is supposed to be relaxed and filled with things you want to do, not have to do- but when you’re surrounded by views and opportunities like y’all are, I may have a different set of mind 😛

Allison: I think the upside to having an all inclusive so far is the free bottled water, free room service, breakfast, lunch, etc. Thus far this trip has been cheap enough that we can easily go out to dinner each night to experience the island and still not “break the bank.”

Never been to an all inclusive…our only visit in Cozumel was a few hours as a port of call on a cruise 🙂

I was on a cruise to Cozumel just last week! Seeing those cruise boats docked makes me long for our wonderful vacation.

    Have fun!

Katie: What did you during your short visit to Cozumel?

      • Katie @ cooklaughmove December 30, 2011 / 7:52 pm

We did an X-rail tour of the jungle (about 30 minutes Southeast of the curise docks) that ended at Jade Caverns where we swam (hubby jumped from the top) and then rode back. It was REALLY muddy but fun, totally the right thing for my husband! We booked through Royal Caribbean but the same company offers tours privately as well (or on an ATV).

My husband and I have done both all inclusive and regular vacas. I have to say, I think the all inclusive vacations are much more relaxing. We went to Sandals and from the moment we arrived we didn’t need to think about anything – money included…everything was a sunk cost at that point. We could participate in activities if we wanted to or just relax.

Have an excellent time & enjoy!

I’ve only stayed at an all inclusive once. What’s your feeling on an all inclusive versus not?

I did appreciate that all drinks and meals were paid for, but on the down side, it seemed like the drinks weren’t always regular strength and the food wasn’t always spectacular. But overall, I thought our experience was great in Puerto Vallarta.

PS- Love that Five Bamboo cowl neck on you! I’m not usually an orange person, but that color looks great.

I’ve never done the all-inclusive deal, but I know my personality and I know that I wouldn’t be a huge fan. I’m sure that it’s really relaxing, and that is definitely the down-side to much of my travel experience – NOT relaxing! I usually return from a trip pretty tired!
The room looks pretty awesome, and scuba diving should be great. Have fun!

I stayed at this resort this summer, so beautiful! And all inclusives are the best, especially at this chain of resorts. They treat you like royalty and you can spend your week not thinking about budgeting, but instead about the most important thing -relaxing! Enjoy, have a beautiful week!

First of all, LOVE inclusive resorts- they are the best. If you ever get a chance- check out Dominican Republic. =)

Second of all, this is funny. We spent Christmas on a cruise, which docked in Cozumel—although we were there before you were, I know exactly where the cruise ship dock is! Small world, right?
