Thursday Thoughts

Today’s post is going to be a little random because that’s where my brain is tonight.

I’m very thankful for friends who make me crawl out of bed when it’s raining and dark outside. I ran 12 miles in 12 hours, 6 of which were a hill workout and 6 of which were slow, rainy recovery miles enjoyed at 6am while chatting with Theodora.  While I know these 12 miles are nothing special, the weeks workouts thus far have really pushed me and I’ve loved it. I’ve winced and grunted but pushed through during points when I know I probably would have abandoned the workout last year. I have 3 miles on the plan for tomorrow followed by a complete rest day on Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s 20 miler.

I’m really enjoying the fact that my favorite shows are back on television! I haven’t tried any new shows but thus far our week has included our favorites: Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, and Parenthood.

Today’s salad rocked! It’s easy to get into a salad lunch rut but today I busted free! Chopped romaine, double shrimp, tomatoes, red onions, green beans, cucumber, 1/2 portion feta cheese, 1/2 portion sun dried tomatoes, peppers, and carrots. Add a dash of salt & pepper and side of honey mustard dressing and this was a lunch salad filled with flavor and filling protein and fiber!

Sometimes friends are the perfect people to help us bust out of a clothing rut. I pretty much swear by JCrew. Their clothing fits me perfectly, their long pants are long enough, the offer many dresses in tall, their stores is less than a half mile away from our house, and most of their items are pretty timeless. But, when more than half of your closet is filled with clothing from one retailer, your looks get a bit boring to say the least. Two weeks ago my friend Liz went shopping with me and help pop some new items into my wardrobe. The trip was a great success and I’ve loved weaving the pieces into my work wardrobe. Tuesday’s pop was something I never would have picked up on my own but is now one of my new favorites! Admittedly, these ankle pants are more like crop pants on me but I still love them so!

I can’t wait to see this movie! I really hope the trailer is as good as the actual movie!! It looks like the perfect way to spend a Friday night after a long week.

Oh yeah, last but not least, I’m so pumped about running 20 miles on Sunday with the NY Flyers and cheering Bo onto his first 20 miles!!

What’s on your mind?

Good luck with the 20 miler! I also really want to see Pitch Perfect! I bought the soundtrack this week, and it’s got some fun numbers on it.

Never mind, I literally just ordered them. Wow, talk about a Friday morning impulse buy! I have been looking for a cute slim pair of cropped dress pants with a little bit of flair for a couple months now. Thanks!

Yay for running buddies to help with the rainy morning runs! The determination I feel for getting to the starting line this year is tremendous and has kept me going in my training, whereas in the past years I would let things derail me. Yay for Grey’s Anatomy returning and I too can’t wait to see Pitch Perfect!
