In less than a month, I’ll be spending today recovering and relaxing after dancing the night away at the New York Junior League’s annual Winter Ball! 
One of my favorite New York City events each year, the night includes a silent auction and dancing with Bo and our friends. Most years, I spend a few weekends dress shopping but this year I have little energy or time to head out to the department stores in NYC and hunt through racks of dresses.
Therefore, I’m finally going to use Rent the Runway for the first time! In case you’re never heard of RTR or used their service before, it is a website that lets you rent dresses from over 95 different designers for all sorts of occasions ranging from black tie to beach weddings. Dresses range in rental price from $50 to over $400 so there is truly something for everyone’s budget. In addition, my favorite part is that they allow you to rent 2 sizes for the price of one. Their customer service is supposed to be best in class, often bending over backwards to make sure women have a good experience and feel like they belong on the red carpet when they wear their dress.
I spent an hour today, pinning different dresses that I personally like and now I’d love your input! I tend to avoid strapless dresses as they just don’t flatter my figure and therefore have marked my favorite one shoulder and deep v-neck dresses. I’m no fashionista so I’m hoping that with your input and feedback, I’ll choose a dress that is fun to dance in all evening but also flattering and stylish!

I agree with the deep purple one. You looked great in blue, and I think this purple is similar with a great cut. Good luck choosing, I had such a hard time selecting when I used RTR last year!

the dark purple one shoulder one is calling my name for you. I think the deep jewel tones are great on you, judging from last year’s dress that looked phenomenal, and it seems like it would be really figure flattering!
The shimmery one (#1) is my first choice. It would definitely look fabulous on you.

I love RTR! I’ve been a member since 2009, and have lost track of how many times I’ve used them! A quick tip: since you’re local to NYC, you can go to their showroom to work with a stylist and try on dresses! That way, you’re guaranteed a perfect fit 🙂

You look so beautiful in your other two dresses 🙂 I especially like the pic of you and Bo. Dress wise I like B, C, and E. I bet you’d look great in any of them! I know Tina CNC has had good luck with RTR before, but my girlfriend just had a terrible experience for an inaguraul ball dress. The Marchesa gown she got was very tattered, surprisingly so even for a rental. And her back-up didn’t look great. SO – just saying have a plan B JIC! I ended up shopping with her the morning of the ball!
I like the very last one – one shoulder purplish color. I think the cut would be super flattering on you, and the color is fun too!

Ashley, I am an avid Rent the Runway user and have had nothing but amazing experiences. I would recommend either the gold or black version of the Badgley Mischka dress. I wore a short version to an Inauguration party and it is SUPER comfortable, flattering and fun. I received so many compliments! It’s a really flattering dress on any figure and the sequins are pretty without too much flash. I’m sure you’ll rock any of those dresses but that’s my vote!

Ashley, I’m going to recommend something completely different… Go and try on the DVF Zarita dress. I purchased it in 2 colors and it has been my go to for numerous events/parties. I have never received so many compliments on a dress. You would look stunning in it and need it in your wardrobe!
