Savannah Bound

I can’t believe it’s finally April 3rd! I have been looking forward to this vacation for quite a few weeks! Ages ago Bo and his friend planned a scuba vacation so they could squeeze in some warm weather and technical diving certification. I took advantage of the weekend apart to head down to Savannah for some quality family time.

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I was down in Savannah since we did Thanksgiving in New York City and Christmas up in Vermont. In fact, it is a year to the day since flew down to Savannah for my papa’s funeral last year. I’m not the only one heading down to Savannah though. My aunts and uncles are making the trip down so it is sure to be a family filled weekend including lots of delicious meals and laughter. I’m hoping that my brother will also take us out on his boat a few times as lord knows I’m ready for another dose of sunshine! I can’t believe it’s been 6 weeks since we were down in San Juan for Theodora’s birthday!

I didn’t realize that I’d been upgraded for my flight and therefore what I expected to be 30-45 minute long security line turned into five minutes! With over an hour and a half before my flight I decided to take advantage and relax with a sit down dinner, glass of wine, a blog post, and some reading.

I’m actually reading two books right now, Gone Girl and Lean In. People ask me how or why I read two books at one time and it really has to do with my mood. Sometimes I’m in the mood for something light and relaxing, especially after a long day. Other times I crave a stimulating and thought provoking read that will lead to me highlighting my way through the book. For some reason I just haven’t hit a point in Gone Girl where I can’t put it down even though it was recommended to me by multiple different people.

Even though my flight doesn’t land until 11:15 tonight, I’m looking forward to an early morning workout tomorrow morning. Before my extended family comes in town, I wanted to take the opportunity to finally meet up with a long time blog reader, Victoria. She and I have been Twitter friends for over a year and I read her blog daily. If the rain holds off, Victoria and I are going to join Fleet Feet Savannah for their morning run club tomorrow at 5:45. Lord knows I may still be half asleep but I prefer workout out bright and early when I’m home so my plans don’t affect any of the other plans for the day.  At least I know there is a Starbucks on my way back home from Fleet Feet! Who knows, if my body is lucky there will also be a long walk with my mom squeezed in later in the day which would allow for some much needed Vitamin D!

While I’m home this week I am going to do my best to build out my Savannah travel page! Any requests?

How about you? Do you ever read more than one book at once or am I the only crazy?

Not crazy! 2 on the go plus one audiobook, glad I’m not the only one!

Oh wow Sara I never thought about audiobooks too! Looks like we’re all a bit crazy. 🙂

I regularly read two books at a time! I agree, it really depends on my mood for what I feel like picking up to read each day. Have a great time with family!

Yay Amber I’m glad I’m not alone! Thanks!

I often read multiple books at once…right now, I’m reading two in paperback and two on my e-reader. It helps to read different genres so that you don’t get mixed up with plots and characters, though.

Gone girl is a fantastic book (other than the ending which made me quite angry lol) but you’re right it did take me a while to get into it, I think at least 70-100 pages. But after I got hooked I could not put it down!

I go between having a few books and one at a time, depending on how much free time I have. I just read Lean In and really loved it! I thought it was just a great starting point for conversations with many of my professional friends, both men and women. I also read Gone Girl last summer and it was addictive after the quarter-way point, I’d say.

I usually have multiple books I’m reading at the same time as well. It all depends on my mood. Usually it’s one novel and one non-fiction.

Have you reached part II of Gone Girl yet? I wasn’t hooked until I got to that point in the book, and then I couldn’t put it down.

I have multiple books going too. It just happens. You’ll know when you reach the twist in “Gone Girl” and then you’ll race to finish it!

Good to know! Thanks Kathleen! I hope I reach it sooner versus later!
