Holy Hills

I forgot how hill Atlanta is.

This morning after seven glorious hours of sleep I headed out for an hour run. My only running option was to leave their development and run down up Lenox Road towards the mall.

Mile 1: 9:45 (conquered 2 hills, feeling good)

Mile 2: 10:10 (humidity, hills, more hills)

Mile 3: 9:30 (ran circles around Lenox Mall just to find some flat space)

Mile 4: 10:05 (hills but more downhill this time)

Mile 5: 10:00 (can I please be done? It’s hot, humid, and muggy)

Total: 54 sweaty minutes

This area of Atlanta has done a great job including sidewalks everywhere! I never once had to run on the street or worry about cars. It was actually fun running around the mall as there was a track club doing sprints in the parking lot!

I was sweaty and my hips were tight when I finished due to the hills but I felt energized and proud of myself for keeping healthy while on vacation!

Thank you Lululemon for keeping me somewhat cool due to your amazing tanks, sports bras, and tights. Without you I’d be miserable!

Breakfast

After stretching and a nice cool shower Meghan and I chatted over a delicious, cold bowl of cereal. I don’t eat cereal much but when I do it certainly hits the spot. This bowl was a mix of Kashi Whole Wheat Bisquits Cinnamon Harvest Squares and Quaker Oat Squares. My muscles were also thankful for the banana that I sliced and added to the top. Potassium does a body good! I highly recommend both cereals. They were crunchy, cinnamon, and filling.

Now we’re off to meet up with our other friends for either a day of shopping or laying by the pool. I hope the sun allows for the latter.

VEGA GOOD GIVEAWAY WINNER: Congrats Nicole!! You were lucky number 6!

Hump Day Eats

Sorry this post didn’t make it up last night but by the time I got home from the Eggland’s Best event last night I was one tired gal! Yesterday I felt like the Energizer bunny. I just kept going, going, and going!

Over the past week, I have made a concerted effort to track and photograph all of my food. While I may not always post them on the blog, it has kept my accountable of what I’m eating. One of the reasons for this change is that my running is on hold due to my back injury. I was fearful of gaining weight with decreased workout intensity. The second reason for this change is my re-commitment to Weight Watchers.

This morning I gained positive affirmation that accountability works!

I was down 3.6 lbs at Weight Watchers this morning!

Wahoo! I think the two biggest things that made the difference were diligent tracking and routine. Last weekend and this past weekend I made Sunday trips to Whole Foods in order to ensure I had all the ingredients necessary for healthy meals during the day AND in the evening. Unfortunately, this means that you’ll most likely be seeing similar pictures day in day out.

Now, for the Hump Day Eats! 🙂

The usual suspects included Venti Unsweetened Iced Green Tea (0 pts), 1/2 c 0% Fage (1 pt),  1/2 c fresh blueberries (0 pts) , and Weight Watchers Oatmeal (2 pts).

Lunch

Bo and I normally make a large meal on Sunday to ensure that there are leftovers for lunches and dinners. This week was no exception as I actually enjoyed quinoa salad and green bean salad through Wednesday!

Dinner

Tonight’s dinner was compliments of Eggland’s Best though it was actually prepared by the bloggers in attendance. This was a wonderful event that I will recap thoroughly this evening when I have time to do it the appropriate justice.

But, until then, here is a preview!

In the Morning Sun

After a wonderful night’s sleep, I was finally able to explore our room and the gorgeous inn! Breakfast was served from 8am-9am so I snagged a few moments before meeting my parents downstairs and captured our room’s adorable details on film. I love bed and breakfasts that understand the importance of details.

After my quick exploration it was time for a homemade breakfast in the sun lit breakfast nook. The area housed six tables included a four person round that suited our needs perfectly this morning.

The first course included fresh grapefruit broiled with brown sugar and Maine blueberries. I would love to recreate this at home as it gave the grapefruit a whole new flavor.

The second course was homemade blueberry waffles topped with toasted pecans and Maine maple syrup. I ate half of this one and half a piece of bacon before passing the rest to Bo and my dad.

After breakfast Bo and I decided that a quick run would be the perfect way to take in the landscape. It also allowed me to use my new Garmin which worked perfectly.

The run was filled with hills. We ran 3.1 miles in about 34 minutes which wasn’t bad considering it included hills. We ran without headphones and chatted instead. Similar to Dori, I am trying to run without music more often.

Next up on our agenda was an ATV tour of Maine’s back woods. Mom, Bo, and I thought we were on our way to a two or three hour excursion. Hence our smile below,

We’re about to leave for dinner so I can’t give a full recap but I’ll leave you with this picture which is worth 1,000 words.  Eight hours later our feet looked like this. Imagine what the rest of me looked like especially since my greatest fear happened and I was indeed thrown off of an ATV and then it proceeded to fall on me. 🙂
