Happy Friday! While this was a short week due to the Memorial Day holiday, there was still a lot packed in as I tried to close out a few work projects and personal projects since we know that Baby Girl Diamond could surprise us and arrive any day. I’m thrilled that Bo nor I have any plans Friday night or Saturday. I’m looking forward to lots of relaxation since we’ve finally finished the projects around our house.

Now, let’s dive into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites, including recipes, articles, posts and other things that caught my eye this week.

  • The picture above captures one of my favorite moments this week. As I shared on Instagram this morning, for years I’ve forced myself to wake up for early morning workouts, using negative self talk, shame and guilt to convince myself that a day without a morning workout was a failure. Luckily, during this pregnancy I’ve learned to love myself and give myself the space to love my body and mind. This morning at 5:30 when the alarm went off I felt exhausted and sore. Even though I was booked for an Orangetheory class and knew cancelling would mean getting a “late cancel fee” I cancelled the class and set my alarm for two hours later. Bo was so amazed by this that when he woke up around 7 he snapped this picture as he thought I looked so calm and peaceful.
  • Just in time for Summer, this protein pasta recipe looks like a great, easy option to whip up for dinner or lunch.
  • I wish I had a reason to order this gorgeous dress, especially since it’s on sale for less than $100 right now! It would be perfect with heels and statement earrings for a Summer wedding or paired with gold Jack Rogers for an evening date night.
  • A few people have asked what protein powder I’m using these days in my smoothies during pregnancy. Instead of using an actual protein powder, I’m getting protein via Vital Protein’s Collagen Peptide Powder. The one ingredient powder adds 18 grams of protein to my smoothies and promotes healthy hair, skin, nails, joints, and bones without any artificial flavors or sweeteners.
  • I’ve used Gmail for years but didn’t know many of these shortcuts.
  • Most days I let my hair dry naturally and the Hairstory Hair Balm has helped make the air dry result look SO much nicer. The balm hydrates while minimizing frizz without weighing down my hair or leaving it looking or feeling greasy. In fact, I look like I have beach waves when my hair dries, which is something I never had before!
  • I treated myself to a few new Diptyque candles this week including my favorite scent, which I often burn on my bedside table before bed or at my desk while I work.
  • In between parenting books, I’ve been reading at least 2-3 other books each month and I can’t wait to dive into a few of the books on How Sweet Eat’s Summer Reading List.
  • Hilary’s Spicy Island dressing is a healthier take on Thousand Island and has a delicious, spicy kick that added flavor to my lunch salads this week. Now that I’ve discovered Hilary’s dressings, I can’t wait to try the rest of their line-up especially the ranch chia and kalamata olive!
  • While I know our Summer is going to look a lot different this year, I still pinned the Infatuation’s Summer Guide to NYC in hopes that we can enjoy at least a few of the spots this Summer.
  • Makeup has been minimal recently but I never leave home without a caot of this mascara, this lip gloss and a swipe of this brow gel.

Your turn – Tell me, what are you loving this week? Favorite new book? Makeup product? Fashion Item?

Friday Favorites–May 26th, 2017

Happy Friday!

First and foremost, thank you for the kind comments, emails and notes I’ve received this week after sharing my heart with you guys. I read each of the emails and comments and took to heart your insight, opinions and recommendations. Thank you! In addition, I’ve loved hearing the feedback of what you guys want to read more of in upcoming posts. Today’s post starts to address one of the requests – more fashion posts – as there is a lot of fashion on sale this weekend!

Even though it’s Memorial Day weekend, the rainy and cool weather in New York City this week has me feeling a cozy night on the couch far more than a trip to the beach. There isn’t a single day forecasted to be warmer than 75 degrees in New York for the next 10 days and this pregnant momma is totally fine with that. After realizing that I have my mom’s same sensitivity to heat during pregnancy, I’m hoping this cool weather sticks around until Baby Girl Diamond greets us. Lord knows I’m already retaining ALL the water and dealing with some leg and ankle swelling. I don’t want to imagine what that retention and swelling would look like if the temperature sky-rocketed into the 90s.  Bo and I  both have Monday off in observance of Memorial Day, so we hope to combine some final projects around the house with lots of relaxation time and maybe even a fun date day together.

Now, let’s dive into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites, including recipes, articles, posts and other things that caught my eye this week.

Friday Favorites–May 12th, 2017

Happy Friday! We made it to the weekend. Today is a whirlwind day as I have a doctor’s appointment uptown smack dab in the middle of the day and then am stopping by Uplift Studios to say hello and hang out with the FitWeek crew later this evening. In between then I had two conference calls for work and a project I’m trying to finish.  As I shared this morning on Instagram, I have discovered an incredible confidence and pride in my body during pregnancy. As I enter week 35 tomorrow, I can’t stop smiling! Even though I’m dealing with some pain in my right glute and round ligament pain that my physical therapist is working through, I feel stronger and more confident in my skin than ever before.

This weekend we are hosting a backyard barbeque and I am so looking forward to enjoying time with our friends. Even though the weather in NYC isn’t exactly looking Summer-like this weekend, I’m not going to let a little rain or overcast skies ruin my mood.  Now, let’s dive into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites, including recipes, articles, posts and other things that caught my eye this week.

  • When Shape Magazine said they were looking for stories about mothers who inspired their daughters and others, I knew I had to share my mom’s story!
  • I was ecstatic to see that Haim finally released a new single on Spotify! I love this group and typically listen to their station or playlist while working.
  • This buffalo chicken bowl looks like a delicious way to enjoy something I’ve been craving recently, buffalo chicken, in a healthier way!
  • I would not be upset if Bo whipped up this fluffy omelet for us Sunday morning.
  • If you’re looking for a few new books, The Everygirl and Cup of Jo shared their recommendations for Summer reading! I’ve already put half of these on hold at my library.
  • Hopefully these tasty popsicles make their way across the pond sooner versus later. Until then, I may have to make the homemade version to enjoy later this Summer!
  • Guys, I can’t get enough of Halo Top ice cream after trying two of their flavors, cookie dough and cookies and cream earlier this week. Based on the Instagram comments, it seems that I have to try salted caramel and birthday cake next!
  • There is no question, Bo and I are DEFINITELY old millenials. What about you?
  • No less than twenty different people have shared this Birth of a Mother article with me this week and I have to say, the New York Times is spot on with this piece as I found myself nodding my head and identifying with the article; so many of the words resonated with me.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
