BlogHer ‘12

This weekend I spent my time between two places: an air conditioned hotel and Mexican restaurants. My BlogHer weekend started with a wonderful workout with Fitfluential friends at Physique 57 thanks to Well+Good NYC followed by a four hour long dinner with fellow bloggers at Agave. It was hands down the best part of the entire weekend and conference. I swear I learn more from my peers than I could ever learn in a conference alone. I loved getting to know Gina and Erika, new to me area bloggers, who were just as beautiful as their blogs!

This weekend inspired me to think about how I want to take this blog to the next level. How do I want to meet my readers needs better than I have for the past few months. While my work schedule has been a bit crazy lately, that’s no reason to lose sight of my passion and all this blog has done for me over the past few years. The sessions I experienced on the Professional Track at BlogHer left me with a lot of information to think about and process. For now, the only thing I’d say you can expect can be summed up in one nice, clean bullet point:

  • In order to improve interaction with my readers, I will be more focused on comment response, Twitter and Instagram interaction, and sharing information via Facebook

Thanks to the ladies of Fitfluential and this weekend’s Video session, I thought that sharing my BlogHer thoughts via video would be more fun than a long, detailed post. I’m learning my way through video editing so they can only get better from here.

If you have specific BlogHer questions about the network or conference, feel free to email me or leave a comment!

Question: If you could hear from any living female during a keynote speech, who would it be? Why?

What a great question! From various tweets, it sounds like Katie Couric was pretty fabulous! Martha too?

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that your blog is one of a few that I check on a daily basis. It’s greatly inspired my running and racing so thank you!

Yes Shauna Katie was amazing! Thanks for the kind words! It’s because of people like you that I keep blogging!

I like blogs where the author trusts their own personality and reports on the life they live with this personality-in-process. I think too much consultation between readers and bloggers can result in chasing phantoms and lose the special factor that makes the blog interesting – which is really just the blogger’s relationship with herself. I like your blog because you seem genuinely excited about your life.

Great meeting you in the hallway on Saturday Ashley! Let’s keep in touch my fellow blogger 🙂

Marissa Mayer, the new CEO of Yahoo. I’m always intrigued to hear from powerful businessminded women who are making waves. I know she’s receiving a lot of praise/flack for announcing her pregnancy right after accepting the CEO position, but she’s holding her ground (especially in a traditionally male-dominated field) and I think what she’d have to say during a keynote speech would be interesting.

I was at BlogHer on Thursday for the HealthMinder day which was great–couldn’t make it to the weekened conference but it looks like it was pretty amazing! Can’t believe there were 4500 bloggers there!

Hope the Physique event was fun–looks like it was! Great seeing you last week–would love to get together for a workout class!

Look at you busting out the video the day after the conference ended! 😉 Loved your point about the content track. That was exactly what I was looking for and slightly disappointed it didn’t really exist. Regardless though, great weekend and it was great to finally meet you!

Oh Gina it was such a joy spending time with you! Yeah, I figured if I didn’t try the video then I never would! Thanks for the feedback!

Great post, love the change up with the video. Next year I have already decided to go!

I would love to hear from Heidi Klum. Sounds out there, but she has created such a brand and following and is such a positive person. I would love to meet her and hear her thoughts on branding.

Thanks Taylor! I’m glad you liked the video. Heidi Klum would be awesome though I know I’d want to get a blowout and makeup done before meeting her! 🙂
