Friday Favorites – November 11th, 2016

coffee

Good morning friends and HAPPY FRIDAY! I started the day off with an hour of yoga with some girlfriends thanks to Well+Good and Decleor. The yoga event was hosted at the gorgeous Marmara Hotel on Park Avenue and was such a great way to start the day. If you are interested, you can sign up for one of their four other free yoga classes by clicking here.

Now, let’s dive into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites, including recipes, articles, posts and other things that caught my eye this week.

  • Last month I reactivated my Birchbox membership and was so impressed with this month’s box of beauty products. This R+CO Foam Conditioning Shampoo leaves my hair soft and smooth while I’ve already ordered the fullsize version of this dry shampoo.
  • After just one episode, I was hooked on the new Netflix series, The Crown. The series shares Queen Elizabeth II’s story while sharing stories and details of each member of the Windsor family as well as other key players during this time in England’s history.
  • This week more than ever, you may feel like you need to give your body, mind and soul some TLC and bring joy into your life.  If you need some joy, I recommend reading the tips Theodora shared in her post this week – 10 self-care rituals.
  • This chili recipe includes two of my favorite things – sweet potatoes and mole! You better believe I’ve added all the ingredients to this weekend’s shopping list!
  • I love that this cast-iron chicken recipe combines so many wonderful flavors including fresh cranberries, rosemary and balsamic!
  • This vegan, cruelty free, and five free nail polish from TenOverTen remained shiny and chip-free for over a week! I fell in love with the light, nude color so much that I bought it after last week’s manicure.
  • One of my favorite sales of the year begins today – Sephora 20% off sale for VIB members! I always stock up on my favorite dry shampoo, face masks, eye cream, fragrance and holiday gifts during this sale.
  • Last night Evann and I both fell in love with the Nike Air Max Thea Mid shoes during Six:02’s holiday gifting event. I am still not sure whether I will be able to pull them off, but I loved the sleek bootie design paired with the comfort of a Nike. They are so unlike anything I’ve ever worn, but I can’t wait to receive them!

Okay friends, I hope you have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend. I have a busy day of work ahead of me before I can relax this weekend.

Friday Favorites – Fall Fashion Essentials

in-nyc

Happy Friday!

I wanted to do something a bit different for this week’s Friday Favorites. Instead of sharing recipes, articles and other items that I am loving this week, I am going to focus on my Fall fashion essentials. These are the items that I look forward to wearing each Fall, year after year. These are the pieces that are always at the front of my closet or on my top shoe rack. Regardless how long I’ve owned the pieces, I seem to fall more in love with them each year.

faux-fur

As you guys know, I tend to focus more on quality over quantity, streamlining my closet over the past few years. Some of these pieces are what I consider to be investment pieces. Their initial cost was a bit of a sticker shock but once I realized that I would wear them for years to come, their style and quality convinced me to purchase. Some of the items on the other hand, are so reasonably priced that I own either multiple pairs or own the piece in a few different colors.  If I think about the outfits I’ve worn for meetings, dinners and social events over the past month almost every outfit includes at least one of the below items. My style tends to be Northeastern preppy, especially in the Fall months with a hint of edge thanks to the inspiration I find in New York City.

In no particular order, here are the twelve pieces I look forward to wearing and styling each Fall season. The below list includes the link to the actual product I own as well as a few similar options.

Your turn – What is your favorite piece of clothing each Fall?

Friday Favorites – September 23rd, 2016

Soul Cycle Rooster Class

We made it to Friday! That hilarious picture is a snap from the Boomerang I posted of us doing the FriYAY dance following this morning’s Soul Cycle class. It was a long week work-wise but a great week personally. I find that as long as I prioritize disconnecting, even for just 30 minutes, and working out during a busy week I am far more productive the rest of the day. As you’ll see from some of my favorites this week, there was lots of friend-filled workouts which made for a lot of fun. This weekend is busier than the past few as Bo and I have date night tonight, tomorrow I’m driving to West Chester, Pennsylvania for a friend’s bridal shower and then Sunday I have 10-miles on my schedule. I’m so excited to see that temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s on Sunday. Fall is finally here!

Now, let’s dive into this week’s edition of Friday Favorites, including recipes, articles, posts and other things that caught my eye this week.

  • I love Soul Cycle but don’t go as often as I’d like due to the price and the fact that it isn’t available on ClassPass. I have a five-class pack which I’ve enjoyed using for random friend dates. This morning Heather, her husband Scott and I met for Liz’s Brooklyn Heights Friday Rooster class. I loved her playlist which included Beyonce and some old school Ashanti.
  • These pumpkin protein pancakes will be delicious following my 10-mile run Sunday morning!
  • When I work from home, busy days call for an easy lunch. Lately I’ve been having soup paired with an apple and almond butter for lunch. This soup looks like a great recipe to whip up on a Sunday and enjoy all week.
  • I’ve been wearing this tank constantly and loving it’s breathability, pockets and support! Since it’s on sale, grab it quick before it sells out!
  • As you guys saw on Instagram, I joined Theodora, Heather and Leslie for a relaxing event with Chico’s on Monday night. Chico’s invited us to experience their Zenergy clothing line by wearing it while flowing through a restorative yoga class taught by Colleen Saidman, the founder of Yoga Shanti.  The wrap and leggings were so comfortable that I wore them while working from home earlier this week and can already tell that they will become a staple in my athleisure and yoga collection. Chicos
  • Our Citibike membership has been a game changer! We joined just two weeks ago and we already have found ourselves using it on a daily basis, whether heading to a workout class that is 1-2 miles away or running errands. If you haven’t tried it yet, use this code to get a free month!
  • It’s finally time to start wearing my favorite fall and winter fragrance.
  • I’m so in love with this week’s nail polish color that I bought the polish so I can take care of chips myself!
  • Topped with sage and served alongside perfect roast chicken, this five ingredient Fall pasta dish looks delicious.
  • If you’re in NYC, this Well+Good event looks like it will be a great way to enjoy a workout with friends. Anyone have plans to participate? Some of these combinations sound killer, like Shadowbox + The Fhitting Room!
  • Leave it to Rachel to develop a healthier version of Green Goddess salad that looks almost too delicious to eat!
  • I don’t know if I can pull this off, but I love the idea of pairing this cream sweater with skinny dark jeans, leopard heels and a black turtleneck.

Your turn – Did you watch any new Fall television shows this week? If so, which one was your favorite?
